Dues Proposal
Ballots were distributed on April
11th and were due on April 30th.Ballots were counted at 4:00 pm, May 5,
2008 in the journalism lounge. Signed outer envelopes were verified
against a list of all dues paying members, the inner envelopes were seperated
and opened and then the ballots were counted.
A total of 114 ballots were
cast out of 411 eligible voters, with 17 ballots deemed ineligible by the
election committee due to irregularities

BALLOT QUESTION:
OPTION 1: 87
in favor (89.7% of eligible ballots)
a) Raise full dues (union dues
+ dental) from 1.25% of base salary to 1.55% of base salary
b) Agency Fee rate (dues alone
or no union membership) remains at 0.75%
c) Raise adjunct dues from $35/semester
to $45/semester.
Option 2: 10
in favor (10.3% of eligible ballots)
a) Cancel dental coverage
b) Agency Fee rate (dues alone
or no union membership) remains at 0.75%
c) Raise adjunct dues from $35/semester
to $45/semester.
Option 1 carried.
The new dues structure will
take effect on September 1st, 2008
